Joseph Pia is lead counsel on complex litigation matters in the areas of intellectual property, corporations and partnerships, entertainment law, and securities. His peers have rated him as a Legal Elite and Super Lawyer, for having a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
Mr. Pia is an aggressive litigator and has been lead counsel on highly complex and diverse litigation cases. These include recently litigating a $60 million securities case through to the Utah Supreme Court and prevailing; and tens of millions of dollars in multi-jurisdictional intellectual property, securities, entertainment law, and corporate and business cases. High-stakes matters are Mr. Pia’s forte, although he also handles small and medium sized disputes for a variety of clients. Last year, Mr. Pia filed more patent suits than any other attorney in the state of Utah.
Mr. Pia is also active in all aspects of media law and entertainment law. He provides production legal services, and negotiates and prepares co-production and distribution agreements, as well as agreements for purchasing, selling, and licensing all forms of media.
Mr. Pia’s approach to litigation is lean and efficient, and is highly focused on our clients’ specific goals. Mr. Pia represents both plaintiffs and defendants, and uses those collective skills on every matter he handles. Mr. Pia has experience litigating in Federal and State courts in California, New York, Washington, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah. Where appropriate, Mr. Pia associates with local counsel in these jurisdictions.
